ARTIST STATEMENT
The language of my work is about the dialogue between
the sacred and the corporeal. It is about observation, remembering;
about seeing into the worlds that lie beyond passive awareness - seeing
forms as beautiful metaphors for what might be called a Goethean 'passage.'
As such, it is about relooking at our constructs, beliefs, and reforming
an intentionalized awareness: finding the nature and quality of being.
Within the language of my art, dichotomies exist between the world
of the intellect and that of the senses - forming an idea of a transcendental
'other.' It is this recontexualizing of the painting that I wish to
(in)form: to recreate ideas of a purposeful and sensual dialogue -
an experience of sublimity and grace. |
